About The Flute Program

The Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey’s Flute Program currently features the Flute Choir. Mrs. Sandy Olson is the conductor.

Our Flute Choir performs, in addition to YOCJ’s other Chamber ensemble groups, at the Small Ensemble Concerts each semester, as well as the annual outreach trip, which has been to Ocean City in the past. They play contemporary flute ensemble music written by composers such as Nicole Chamberlain, Ricky Lombardo, Jonathan Cohen and Catherine McMichael as well as many arrangements of orchestral and chamber string works. YOCJ is looking forward to some exciting programming that also features other instruments in the flute family such as piccolo, alto flute, and bass flute!

Important Information

• The Flute Choir will rehearse on Tuesdays, 6pm to 7pm.

Audition to join the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey

Young musicians (elementary through high school) are all welcomed to audition for The Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey in January, June, and September.

Students MUST study privately and be enrolled in either their school band or orchestra in order to become and remain a member of YOCJ. Recommendation by the student’s private teacher is required. Homeschoolers are also invited to audition!
