About The Pro Arte Orchestra

The Pro Arte Orchestra (PAO), also under the baton of Phillip Pugh, is Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey’s middle level string orchestra.

SONY DSCPAO not only performs standard string orchestra literature but also combines with the Wind Symphony on each concert to perform as a full symphonic orchestra. On the 2014 YOCJ European tour, members of this orchestra had the honor of performing Haydn’s Symphony No. 8 in Haydn Hall at the Esterhazy Palace in Austria. They also performed the finale from Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8 at Prague’s Bethlehem Chapel in the Czech Republic. Recently, the Pro Arte Orchestra has performed such repertoire as Dag Wiren’s Serenade for Strings, Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances No. 3, Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, and Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
