About the Sinfonietta String Orchestra

The Sinfonietta String Orchestra (formerly known as the String Preparatory Orchestra) at the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey is the youngest of the three string orchestras, and is conducted by Phillip Pugh.

Young string players will learn essential ensemble skills such as staying together, listening critically, and following a conductor for tempo, dynamics, and articulation. Repertoire includes Mozart Divertimentos, Händel and Corelli Concerto Grossi, Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite, Britten’s Simple Symphony and Gustav Holst’s St. Paul’s Suite. The Sinfonietta String Orchestra will prepare young string students for promotion to the upper level orchestras. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.
